Mother's Day Gift

Whew! I bet you thought I wasn't going to post today huh? Well actually even I didn't know if I was going to post today. I took these pics yesterday thinking I would put the post together last night. But we had Kindergarten Orientation until late (oh how time flies!) and I was just clobbered by allergies so I laid down for a bit and that little bit became the morning. Which was full of preschool shuttling, playdates and friends. So here I am finally sitting down to share with you my project today. This is another nifty gifty; Mother's Day Style. 

Now indulge me for a bit while I talk about my sweet mother. All my life I remember her being a crafty sort. She is quite the amazing quilter and for many years did toll painting. Now that she is back at work and going to school (to become a principle!) she hasn't had much time for crafting. Well, I visited her a while back and took my stamping supplies. Now I am not sure if she has been humoring me, but she has developed quite the interest in stamping now. We share together our love for our favorite products and she has been stamping her heart out! So in light of this, I thought she could use a box to store her creations in. Enter this years Mother's Day Gift:

I made up a box much like the one I did for the first 365 Cards Challenge. I covered it with some Wild Saffron papers and stamped a tag for the front with her name. 
I made up some dividers using my tab punch and more lovely papers. I also punched a few extra tabs so she can make up some more dividers if she needs them.
I made a card to match using my PTI Mother set and some rub-ons, stickers and gems from the same Wild Saffron line. I added some blue stickles to the yellow circles.
Inside I added a big pack of my favorite 6x6 papers.  I added a belly band with some rope and made up a tag to go with it. I cut out another butterfly from the paper to add to it. Now here is the final kicker... Every year Papertrey Ink makes up their anniversary set given free for those customers that purchase at least 12 of their sets in a year. Now as the final month approached (february) we both were on the phone every week talking about how many sets we had purchased and if we were going to qualify for the coveted anniversary set. We ordered each month with gusto to ensure we would and when it all came down to it, my mom was short 1 set!!!! Apparently we miscounted and she was DEVASTATED to say the least. Soooo I did a little searching and found someone selling a set off of EBay and I snatched it up and added it to her gift! (That is the package in the yellow) Needless to say she is going to FREAK OUT when she opens it. I just wish I could see her face when she gets this, that would totally make my year! The extra funny part about this is that I still have not received my set (which I did qualify for). She kept giving me a hard time about using the set when she wouldn't get one. And now she is getting one and I don't have mine yet! Apparently there has been a glitch in the system and I hope to get it sometime soon. I am kind of stalking my mailman. The waiting is SO painful!

Here is a shot of the top of her new box and her Mother's Day card. It went out today and should show up by the weekend. I told her she couldn't read my blog until she got it in the mail as to not ruin the surprise. I hope she complied!I am so blessed to have a mother that shares my interests and dreams. Thank you to a wonderful mother who has raised me and loved me and is constantly encouraging me to be better. I love you mom!! Happy Mother's Day!!

365 Cards: Think Pink!

Today is my day at 365 Cards and I had such a fun time making up this card! As with my last card, I made up two for this challenge and the second was 'oh so much better' than the first. Here it is:

I figured with all that pink, I would need a little sass in it too. I love this image from Pink Paislee. I put some diamond stickles in the star patch, which is like sass in a bottle! I stamped the large circle from THIS Rubber Soul SET for the background. I started with Raspberry Fizz ink and then topped of with a few white circles. I think its so fun to go through your stamps and see which ones can be used for backgrounds. Usually you will find a few that you wouldn't have thought of originally. The sentiment is from Kim Hughes "Ahoy Matey" Set. Which is so cute too. 

So that is my pink card for today. Hope you like it! It's great fun to do a one-color card. I think I will try it now with each color I own. That would get interesting!

Take-Off Tuesday # 24

My Serena and Lily catalog showed up in the mail yesterday just in time for TOT! There are a few new things in there that I found really fun. Here is today's picture. Some really hip wood grain and great colors:

Here is my take:
It's pretty straight forward to the inspiration. I used the wood grain stamp from Cosmo Cricket and stamped repeatedly for the background.  I loved the orange in the picture, but for some reason its really freaking me out on this card, or maybe it's the blue. I just can't tell.

Thank you for all your sweet and concerning comments yesterday for my little "Motrin Drinker." He really is fine although he napped really well (long and hard!) so maybe it did affect him some. Things are much calmer today. However, Ronin (4yr old) came into our room in the middle of the night. Since he is sick we put him in a makeshift bed on the floor. At some point he spilled the cup of water from the nightstand all over himself. So needless to say, he was crabby and awake, as was I. It's raining again today which always puts a damper on my spirits. It's taken me a while to get motivated this morning, and I am not sure that I am fully functioning yet. I venture to say I will only hit 70% productivity today. But at least that gives me room for improvement tomorrow!

Mother's Day Card & Spring Fling Challenge!

Oh boy, has it ever been a Monday!! Today we woke up to a 4yr old with a fever and sore throat (no, it's not the swine flu ; ) and a 2 yr old who drank a 1/4 bottle of children's Motrin that mom forgot to put away. I asked him if he drank it. He said no. I called poison control anyway. Apparently its not enough to worry about, which I find reliving, but also odd. I mean it was 1/4 a bottle! Anyway. Next week is Mother's Day so I am getting moving on my gifts this week. Today's challenge at 365 Cards is a Mother's Day card, which was the perfect way to get started. I used some spring inspiration from Lisa at Poppy Paperie. Here is my card:

I used some Bitty Dot Paper and Heart Prints stamp set to make a big flower. I curled up the ends to help with the illusion of a flower. Added a PTI button threaded with a strip of leftover polka dot paper and Voila!

Here is the inside. I used the Mother's Day Set which says just about everything you would want for your mother. This card will be going to my mother in law. I have a little gift I am going to make up too, but I have to run out the door right now. I hope to post it later this week. She actually showed me my first Paper Crafts Magazine, so I owe this woman a lot. I have to remind Patrick that its his mother's fault that all his money is spent on crafts ; ) She is a wonderful loving mother and grandmother and I am so blessed to have her in my life. Happy Mother's Day to her!

365 Cards Super Sketchy Sunday!! #8

Hey there! It's Sunday again and you know what that means...Sketch Time, 365 Cards Style! Here is today's sketch:

Pretty straight forward but with SO many possibilities. (and trust me, it is a fun one!) Here is my take:
I used this cute cherry image from Pink Paislee and some fun mini dot paper. I just love it! Ok, so I made these cards a few night ago when I was having some allergy issues and was OH so tired. What is funny is this cherry card is the second card I made. This one here is the first card I made:
Notice anything about it???? Yes, you are right... it is exactly BACKWARD of the sketch. I was trying to put it together like the sketch and it just looked wrong, so I moved some things around and when I stopped it felt more right, but that is when I noticed it was backward. Boy, I think my meds were messing with me! So that is when I made up the second one. It's funny what our brains can do!  

With this card, I sponged versa mark over the entire sentiment frame and embossed it clear to give it a nice shiny coat. There is some glitter on there too. This poor card is just not that fun to look at so I am glad I made a second one.

365 Cards: Floral Fest

Hey there! I participated in todays challenge at 365 Cards which is Floral Fest. That means you must have 8 flowers on your card. Woah buddy, thats a lot of flowers! In light of my activities for today (Revlon Run/Walk for Breast Cancer) I thought I would make my card all Pink. By the time this posts I should just be starting my run... lets pray my allergies don't flare up and my legs don't give out!

You can see I got in all eight flowers on there, which is quite a surprise. (there are two sewn together, so technically I have 16!) I made this 5 1/4 square. I added some Hibiscus Burst Buttons, Raspberry Fizz ribbon and the only sentiment I thought was suited for today.

I have not personally been affected by breast cancer, but I have many people around me that are fighting the fight or have watched loved ones fight.... My heart goes out to them. I am praying for you; a full recovery for some, praying for peace and understanding for others.

It's Friday!

Hey there! I have been quite out of it this week. All because of one thing: ALLERGIES!  I get them every year for a few weeks, and even though I know they are coming, they sneak up on me nonetheless and knock me off my feet. Last night I was making up a few cards for 365 and it took me SOoooo long because my brain just wasn't working and my eyes felt like they had sand in them. I finally got to bed and today I feel much better (also its raining so that helps!) I haven't done much crafting this week because of it so I thought I would post some cards I did awhile back. These are the two cards I made to apply for the 2S4Y design team. The submission date has past, so I feel it's safe to post them:

They were both based off of sketches. Here is my birdie in his tree. I just LOVE that cloud paper from the K&Co Citronella line. So many bright and fun colors in this pack! See those little buttons? My mom picked those up one day when she was out and was so excited to send them to me. We have a bit of a button thing, she and I. She keeps sending me buttons and I keep using them!
Here is my second one. I used the Cosmo Cricket stamp set Happy Campers. This sketch seriously stumped me. I am still not too happy with my design choice, but it's mine regardless!

I was hoping to spend all my time planting in the yard today, but the rain has seriously altered that plan.  It's always when I plan something or forget to bring the toys inside that the rain decides to make an appearance. I guess that's spring for ya! And tomorrow is the big running day. Again I just hope to make it through. Between being out of shape and my allergies; a run through Central Park probably isn't going to be much fun. But it's for a good cause!!
