A Scrap Page --GASP!!!

Ok, so here's the scoop. We have been asked at church to create something, anything to express our feelings about the story of the Living Water (about Jesus and the woman at the well). I toyed with a few ideas, most of which were beyond my mental grasp and as you may expect, I have been stumped.... The days have been passing, quickly. I had been personally asked to participate and I was freaking out! The only thing I could think to do was to made up a scrapbook page of me when I was baptized. And here it is...

Now you would think that I could get something together with no problem, but let me just say that this took me HOURS.... I am quite shocked at how much harder a 12x12 page is to create than a bitty 4x5. It definitely stretched me. So here is my one and probably only scrapbooking page (at least made from scratch).

Aren't I so little? Ronin has been looking at it everyday marveling at how young I am. He says I am so cute and that I have lost a tooth... he's looked at every detail.
So that is my crafting experience for today. It was a tough one. Hope you get a chance to do something creative that stretches your mind!

Thank You So Very Much!

This card was definitely an exercise in crafting. There are those moments when you have an idea and really know what you want, but when you finally execute it turns out well.... not as you planned. It is very odd how that works. Anyway, all in all, this didn't turn out that bad, and it is an interesting shape. I think it just might need different colors? I cannot be sure at this point since I have been looking at it for so long ; ) I hope to try this one again at some point.

I hope you are enjoying your day and be sure to check back on sunday for our first card challenge at 365 Cards! I hope to see and hear from you too!

Thanks for stopping.

Just click on the sketch on my side bar and it will link you to the challenge and you could win some FREE stamps from Pink Persimmon!! I will be drawing a winner on March 1st, so get craftin!

Hope you have a swell day...

PTI Blog Hop

This months Blog Hop is to use anything spring. Well, you can't beat flowers for spring or this new FAB Melon Berry color. I can't wait for my bulbs to bloom and making this card just helped me wait one more day...

I actually used Berry Sorbet to stamp the smaller flowers but did so over Fresh Snow ink. And amazingly the ink matches the Melon Berry Ribbon. Who knew?? And here is a close up of the tag. Take a gander if you will... what do you see????
This cute button I found in my stash says Elizabeth. Wha??? Why on earth would it say that? I don't know why, I'm assuming its for a line of clothing or something, but how cute would it be for a friend named Elizabeth??? I think VERY! Only problem-o is, I do not have a friend by that name. Hmmmm. Must go out and make more friends!

Edited to add:  Please leave me a comment if you have a friend named Elizabeth, that would like a handmade card. I would be happy to send it to you!!! (cause seriously, I don't have one friend named Elizabeth ; )

Thanks for looking and have a great time at the Blog Hop!

CPS 104: Sketch

I participated in the CPS Card Sketch for this week, to win none other than PTI stuff. So I decided to use PTI stuff!! I just got my Friend's 'til the End set, and had to try it out. Here is the sketch:

I really loved how the edges of the card are missing so I wanted to play with transparencies. Of course it didn't do what I expected, but I like it nonetheless.
My card base is a transparency sheet and a piece of SU! Kiwi Kiss on the back. My flower was stamped on transparency as well and cut out.
I of course had to add some ribbon, which deviated from the sketch a bit, but I love this grey ribbon and HAD to use it.  This is the card closed. I also added some glitter to the center of the flower.
Thanks for looking!

Love Note Matchbook

I was blog browsing awhile ago and came across a tutorial on Design*Sponge on how to make your own Matchbook Notepads. Of course I had to give it a go. I just picked some scraps from my box and made it up. That is the only reason it's red. I didn't mean for it to be Valentine-y... But I defense of all things "lovey," is still February, if only barely.

These are so simple to make and you can perforate the pages inside so you can write a note and rip it out anywhere you are!
Isn't it cute? you can't go wrong with a few of these laying around. Check out the tutorial and make one yourself and then leave a note for a special someone.
Have a great day!

Take-Off Tuesday #16

This weeks Take-off comes from the Pottery Barn Kids catalog. I have had this picture for quite awhile, so long that I can't find the picture on their website anywhere. It still speaks to me after all this time ; ) I love the bold colors and the symmetry of the squares.
Now before I show you my take, I just gotta say that when I did this my lighting was horrible (why haven't I gotten a light yet?) and it's safe to say that I had just lost my crafting mojo... Here' my take:
Funny, but still..... I just can't tell. And really, what would I use this card for?? A birthday? A hot date?
Since making this card I have improved my lighting situation only slightly and my mojo comes and goes. I guess everyone gets stuck in a rut at some point. And my camera is still out of commission. But those are not reasons to stop crafting!

So get some stuff out today and get creative. And if you want to use my Ad inspiration, please do! And send me a link of your creation. I would love to see it.

365 Challenge: Card Box

I am so excited to get started at 365 Cards today! So here you have it. The FIRST challenge!
I have this old photo box that has held a variety of things over the years. It needed a make-over like somethin' fierce! Thank heaven for Pam and the 365 Cards Challenge! I used some paper and embellishments from S.E.I's Madera Island.
The paper is yellow and grey which is a big trend right now and very nature-y which is something I really love.
Inside I used some PTI Kraft paper which is nice and thick so it was perfect for dividers. I used some more S.E.I. paper to doll them up. I also used PTI Simple Alphabet for labeling the tabs.
Here they are all inside! I am so glad to have this box because I have been crafting like a maniac and it's so great to have something lovely to put your cards in. It just adds more delight to the card making experience.

So that's it for today! Be sure to check back at 365 Cards to meet the rest of the team this week and, get your craft on with this first challenge!! Link your creations  on 365 Cards so we can see all your fabulous work. We look forward to seeing what you create!

Have a creative day!

Life's Little Miracle

I have been making more cards without stamps lately. I have noticed my stash of embellishments is getting bigger, not smaller. Because you see, I am a hoarder. And the silly thing about that is as a hoarder you feel like you will never have anything as lovely as that thing you found in the store that one miraculous day. But you do that every month (or even week...I didn't just admit that!) for a year and well, you have a love of lovely things that have yet to be used. What we fail to admit as crafting hoarders is that there will ALWAYS be something just as lovely coming out that makes your heart go pitter-pat. And how can you buy the new stuff if you still have the old sitting around?? So I am going to stop hoarding. I promise! I am going to use up each and every gorgeous thing I have yet to cut into, or open up. It's silly, this life obsession.... So without further ado, my non-hoarded embellishment card:

You see why I have been hoarding? Look at that butterfly... 3-D mind you! Just LOOK at those swirling rub-ons... I mean come on!! Anyway. Enough of that crazy talk. This little number is simple and easy to create. The rub-on and butterfly sticker are K&Co. The metal sentiment is Making Memories.
Thanks for stopping by. And as an exercise today, just try to cut into paper that you love, shed a tear and make a beautiful card....

Hello Sunshine!

It's been sunny the last few days (minus the ONE night it snowed!) We have been playing outside and basking in the small amount of sun we get each day. I think maybe that is why I needed to make this card. The colors just cheer you up instantly, which is something I need in this endless winter. Feeling the hint of spring just makes me smile. It will be glorious when it comes in full bloom.

The inspiration from this card came from the paper scraps I had. Cosmo Cricket Hello Sunshine and some PTI Black and White Basics. I have noticed my Pure Poppy ink pad is getting dry. Can you believe that! It's the first color I have run out of and I haven't had it for too long. I think going through both Christmas and Valentines (plus all the cards inbetween) have taken its toll. Its the best color in the world!

And on another note, my Papertrey Ink order just showed up in the mail! I can't wait to use it. You should be seeing a few new things here for the next little bit. So keep checking back. And until then have a very sunny day!

Black & White Contrast Cards

I started out with this one card. I couldn't decide on which pop of color I wanted. I started with pink, but that was just so.... predictable. So I  chose green instead. I like the green. (sorry about the horrible photo... still waiting on mr. camera to return from the doc.)

After the first one worked out, I had to try a few more! I have all of these big eyelets and plastic flowers that have been sitting at the bottom of my drawer. It's about time they got used.
A  nice little trio of cards. The background is made of 2" strips. I mounted them on CS on the diagonal and cut the square out. I really love these papers by PTI. Bold yet classic.

Have a great day, and thanks for visiting!

Bookmark Card

When I was still pregnant with Ronin, a work friend of Patrick's gave us this set of Bedtime Wishes Cards called Sweet Dreams. The idea is to read the quote/poem/saying on the back of the card to your little one and then put the card under their pillow so they have sweet dreams. Well, I never did do that, but I love these cards. They each have a different picture and saying and I always wanted to do something with them. This is the second Bookmark Card I have made with them. They are just delightful to make.

I also had a chance to get out my jewelry stash. As I have gotten older I have dabbled a little in many different crafts. I want to explore those lost crafts and add them into the cards I make. Todays is jewelry.  I used beads to make a "pin" and also the hook for the bookmark.
When you pull the bookmark out you can see the saying on the back. This particular one is by Helen Keller. Its about daring to live the life in your dreams. This saying from PTI Out On A Limb Sentiments fit it perfectly. I designed this card without thinking of how UGLY it would be once you take the bookmark off, so that is why I added the sentiment. Not the best looking, but better than it was before!
Here is the whole shebanG! I will definitely be using these cards again. I have 34 left!

Hope you have a great day and here is to living the life you have imagined!!!

A little Candle Birthday

While in Milwaukee I picked up some small envies measuring about 3x4 or so. They are the cutest things and the perfect size to add to flowers or candy. Small and simple. So I made up a card to fit. This little birthday guy. You like? The candles and cupcake are from Stampendous Line "Hey There Cupcake".  The Happy Birthday To You line is from PTI Around & About Sentiments.  There is some glitter on the flame of the big candle, its just  a bit hard to see. You can click on it to make the pic bigger.

Short and sweet today. Have a good one, and thanks for stopping by!!

Take-Off Tuesday # 16:

Apparently this Nouveau Bohemian Chic is the next trend to watch. Or at least that what Garnet Hill says. Well, regardless, I really love it. I love the purple (which is a trend right now) the deep brown and the comfort and naturalness of the wood, and well, just about everything in this photo! Here is my take:
Of course I had to add some stitching! Again, PTI's Around and About Sentiments. (I told you it would be around for a while). I stamped the background of the white strips and then sponged the edges with some chalk ink to soften it up a bit. Over all I like this one. I feel comforted when I look at it, so I guess you could say I captured what I wanted. Maybe I just want a nap instead ; )

Have a great day!

Be My Valentine

This photo is a little burned out, but hopefully you can tell that it is on a white cardstock base. I used the new Papertrey Ink Black & White Basics Patterned Paper which is a great collection of papers to have. Also used my favorite set of the month Heart Prints.

I found some tiny clothespins at my favorite paper store in Milwaukee. So far out of the two times I have visited the state, I have visited the store 4 times.... yes, I have an addiction. It's called Broadway Paper. They do more invitations and pre-printed cards, but they have really great letter pressed designs and great inspiration. I spent quite a bit of time in there. It was just down the street from the theatre Patrick was working at, so it was  a perfect since it was SO cold there I couldn't walk very far. I enjoyed my time there very much.

I drew an arrow on one of them to clip to the heart motif. Kind of like cupid sent it flying and it hasn't struck the heart yet.

This is the last of the valentine's. On to spring!!!!

Thanks for stopping by today.

Happy Valentines To my Husb.

This is the card I am giving Patrick this year. I received some of these mini file folders, and I thought it would help keep his Valentine card from turning too cutesie.

I distressed and sewed the edges and added a journaling card to the front. The chipboard U was inked up and then embossed a few times to give it a shine. I added stickers to say "Why I LOVE"
Here is the inside card. I am going to put the top 10 things I love about him. I haven't started yet. I want them to be perfect so I need a lot of thinking time. I used a few ink colors to give it a mottled look.
Here is the paper clip. I used some hot glue and added some buttons. An easy way to make a nice accessory. I hope he likes it. I hate giving him things that are too cute or crafty. This is at least something he will keep because its says a bit more than just Happy Valentine's Day. Can't wait to give it to him.

A pocketful of Love

I found these cute 4x4 glassine bags at Broadway Paper in Milwaukee. I thought it would be a good way to make a pocket to hide a sentiment. It kind of makes this card interactive. I cut off the top flap and rounded the corners.  I stamped my beloved polka dots on the front. I sponged the edges of the black CS with Fresh Snow ink.
Inside the pocket is a notecard with the sentiment. Using Heart Prints and Heart Print Sentiments.  Inside is a white notecard you can use to write your own message. I really love Pure Poppy with Black. Very bold.  I wanted to make this for a friend I haven't talked to in forevah! She is on the opposite coast and I thought this would be a good valentine to send.

I hope to send my love to a lot of people this Valentine's Day. I figure its the best thing to do since I just adore making Valentine's!  Take this year to send lots of love to those you are around and those who have moved far from you. When you spread love, you are filled with love!

Conversation Cookies

I saw these in this months Martha Stewart Mag when I was doing a quick browse at the bookstore. I thought it would be a great Valentine's gift.

First you bake up some sugar cookies, add some Royal Icing and stamp on it with food coloring. Sounds simple enough right??  And considering my baking partner was a 4 yr. old with butterfingers, things turned out pretty good. ; 0

PTI's Simple Alphabet is perfect for this project. The font adds just the right look. The only thing is the Royal Icing isn't as tasty as say a butter frosting would be, but it stiffens up so you have a hard surface to stamp on. I chose to do a few of them this way and the rest with the real frosting so they were more enjoyable to eat.
Here is one of them packaged up in a glassine bag. I used my Cuttlebug to make a  bigger and cuter flap, tied it up with ribbon and Voila!
Here they are together. Those papers are the Berry Sweet Line from K&Co, which you have seen recently and will still be on my desk for the remainder of the Valentine week. So that's it! A sweet hello for a Valentine friend.

Have a great day and thanks for looking!

Take-Off Tuesday #15

I love the elegance of these silver curtains and the pattern on the sheer curtain. I so desperately wanted an all silver card.
Here's what I FINALLY came up with. This card stumped me for hours. I think I was a bit tired, and it still isn't quite right. There is no sentiment, and also the closure is a bit sketchy. But I do like it.
I added a button and then some elastic string to go around it to keep it closed. I stitched thread through the ribbon to scrunch it up.

I love the embossed image. This Filigree Embossing Powder is absolutely divine. It sticks so well as you can see for yourself.

Have an inspiring and LOVELY week this week. Share your love with someone!

Friends 'Til The End: PTI Challenge

Another challenge day for Papertrey Ink. Create a card for your best friend. I had been thinking of it all day and realized only now that I didn't do what I wanted, and did white on green like Nichole did in her post. Talk about subliminal.... and totally lame. But anyway, I did create something to send to a friend.

I have really great friends and don't take care of them as well as I should. I lose touch way to often and don't tell them how much they mean to me. Thanks for being my friends!

Just a side note on this card. It's the first time I have ever paper pierced.... um, can ya tell? Seriously so funny, my hands wouldn't stop shaking and the dots are all over the place! Maybe I shouldn't point that out. But if you have any piercing tips, please send them along. I need all the help I can get.  Also, the light over my desk is so horrible (i.e. there isn't one) that I thought I was using a base card of  PTI Ripe Avocado, but when I was going through ribbon and compared it, they didn't match up. Apparently its SU! Old Olive! Guess I should have been able to tell by the weight ; ) Anyway. That's it for today. Can't wait for tomorrows challenge...

I'm Here for You

Just switching it up from all the lovey dovey hearts you have been seeing lately.  I absolutely ADORE this set. Floral Frenzy.  This is one of the cards I made while in Milwaukee. That is the reason you keep seeing the same sets over and over and OVER. I only took so many sets with me. But don't worry, as soon as I move the TV off of my crafting desk I will make up some new things, oh and PTI is having their Anniversary Party and Release this month, (check it out!) so I am sure I will have some new sets in my stash soon. I really can't stay away from them!

Anyway, I really love the simplicity of this card. And the Kraft paper makes it feel cozy. Or at least I think so. It was one of those cards that came together quickly and easily. Of course its a simple layout, so if it would have taken hours to finish I would be really worried about myself!

Thanks for stopping by today! Leave me a comment if you so desire. I would love to hear from you!!!

CPS102 Challenge

Yes, I know I said I was taking a break today. And yes, apparently I lied. But surely you know my addictions by now, and that I am weak against their powers! But because I should be taking a break, (but really wanted to join in another PTI challenge), I only made a LITTLE card. That makes sense right??

This is a 3 1/4 x 4 1/4 card. "why that bizarre size" you ask? My brilliant answer is...It's just the size of cardstock I had on my desk.... that's it. In fact all of the things I used on this baby are scraps I have sitting around. I love using scraps, but of course I have said that before. Here is my little card:

Really, the reason I did this today is because I have already entered all the other challenges, it would be a shame to stop now, don't you think?!?! This was based off of a sketch from the CPS blog (that's Card Positioning Systems). It's a great place for weekly sketches and design ideas, so you should check it out. come on... I know you want too! And join in the sketch fun too if you have a chance.

See you tomorrow!!

Bitty Dot Sketch Challenge: PTI

Yet another challenge today over at Nicole's blog. I figure now that I have two under my belt, I might as well keep going with the rest. See how far I can get! Here is my card based on the sketch:
I realize I didn't use all PTI stuff. And only two stamp sets (and not full ones either). But this one was actually hard for me to put together, but it could be the fact that I was trying to do it between two bored kids and one sleeping husband. NOT a good combo. Plus I realized the exact stamp I wanted for the sentiment and then realized I don't even OWN it!!!  Has that ever happened to you?? Horrifying!! So I had to make due.

All in all, it turned out ok. I did a lot of sticking and then ripping off, so I kind of beat the card up a bit. These embellishments and patterned paper are from a K&Co line called Berry Sweet. I have been kind of hoarding them so it feels good to break them out.

Check out the new items that will be release at Papertrey Ink. Great new colors, ribbon and polka-dot paper. This release is gonna be great!!

Thanks for checking in. Hope you having a wonderful weekend!

Papertrey Ink Color Challenge

I woke up today thinking I was only going to play with the kids and clean the house. Then I logged onto Nichole's Blog and saw they were doing another challenge  for Papertrey Ink. so I joined in... again! And it was quite fun. It's a color challenge today using Ocean Tides, Ripe Avocado, Pure Poppy and Summer Sunrise. Here is my card:
And incase you are feeling bad for my kids thinking they are being terribly neglected, Ronin and I crafted it up while baby was sleeping. He made his own Valentine's cards but wanted to hold mine up instead. Here he is in all his jammie glory. We had fun together today.
Check out PTI's Anniversary party and join in the fun too!
Thanks for stopping by!

Hugs and Kisses

This Valentine's card started out simple enough and ended up being a product parade. I just kept adding things until I couldn't see straight. I like it, but it got intense.... but I guess thats a perfect fit for Valentine's Day.

I pulled out the Heart Prints set which of course is perfect for Valentine's and other occasions as well. I decided to make my first ever shaker card. I just made it up as I went along, and I know I made a few mistakes since the beads are kind of sticking to the card!
I stamped the some heart images and the XOXO image from the stamp set onto Shrinky Dink and heat shrunk those little babies into miniature "beads" for my shaker. I added a few jewelry beads and Voila! Shake your Hugs and Kisses!
Thanks for stopping by.
