Paper Wings Productions Monthly Challenge

Hey there! Today is the Paper Wings Productions monthly challenge! And its all about the holidays!

Here is my card:

For this card, I wanted to create a Christmas theme but not necessarily using Christmas stamps. I like a challenge, as you know ;) I gathered my supplies. I have an old book that I use just for crafting. I tore a page from it and trimmed it down to an A2 size. I'm using the Whimiscal Alphabet stamp.

After stamping my letters to spell out: "A Merry Christmas" in the shape of a tree, I took some white ink and sponged a halo around it. I then took some tea dye distress ink to put some shading around the edges of the page.

I then die cut a ribbon, star and holy berries and stamped them with some patterns from Sacred Geometry.
I adhered my paper just a bit in the middle of the page and then sewed around the edge with my sewing machine. I then adhered all of my items and added an enamel dot to the bottom.

And that's it! I hope you have a great time working with the challenge this month. It's always fun to create Christmas cards! And as always, Christmas is coming fast! Are you ready?? I am freaking out! I usually am pretty organised but this year it has eluded me. So I hope there is a Christmas miracle in there somewhere for me!

I hope you have a great week and a great December where ever you live and whatever you celebrate! Thanks for sharing your time with me!

 {Source: Pinterest}
I wanted something similar but SIMPLE. This is what I came up with:

Yes, I know! I told you these manila tags would come in handy! These are so simple, fun to make but look nice, don't ya think? I heat embossed my image onto the tag and then using a water brush painted some Distress Ink: Scattered Straw. Easy.

Yes... and that. is. it. Add some black and white twine and your ready for a package or gift bag!

Ooh La La!

Thats all for today. Thanks for stopping in! I hope you like the hop and find a lot of inspiration for your crafty soul. Give a try yourself. I think you will love it!

Paper Wings Productions Nov. Challenge!

Hello there! Happy November!! Today is the first Paper Wings Productions post for the month! This month's challenge is Anything Goes!

I love this challenge. Sometimes is nice to just free-range-it in the craft room, am I right??

Well here is my challenge project for the month of Nov. Let's see if you can spot what I did:

One of my favourite things to do is  repeat stamping. Sometimes it can just make one stamp look completely different. I found these big manila tags at my local art store. They were pretty cheap for a big bag so I scooped them up knowing I could (and should) use them for any number of projects. And sure enough, it only took 2 days until I found a use for them!

I chose the Sacred Geometry set and used this one circle stamp to cover my tag.

I then took 4 Copic markers and my Uniball white gel pen that I got from CutCardStock.com and coloured them up. You can see the steps here:

The white gel pen really added a nice dimension to it. Then it was just a matter of making these tags up to be gift ready. I think they are pretty general so you could use them for any occasion. I love the funky colours and design.

And that's it! Thanks for joining me today. Be sure to hop on over to Paper Wings Productions blog: The Aviary, for your chance to win some Paper Wings gift certificate love!!

Thanks for stopping by today! I love when you visit me. I have some news up my sleeve so be sure to check back tomorrow! There will be lots of fun things coming to enjoy!

Until next time...

If you are here from {Erica's} blog you are in the right place! If you are just stopping in to say hi to me today, be sure to start {HERE} at the beginning to read the rules and get started! This months blog hop is all about the colour Black. My favourite!!

And remember ONE lucky winner will get a $25.00 gift certificate to the Paper Wings Productions online store.

For a chance to win all you need to do is:
  • Be a follower of the Paper Wings Productions blog, The Aviary
  • Visit each of the participating designer's blogs and leave a comment!

To increase your chances of winning you can like their Facebook page and/or invite your friends to the hop. Be sure to leave a separate comment for each of your additional entries. The winner will be announced on Tuesday Oct. 7, 2014 at The Aviary!

Ok... here she is:

So, I have always loved black. Since I was a teenager. In fact until I moved to Sinapore, my entire wardrobe consisted of black, white and greys. (Of course I lived in NY, where those colours are the only ones necessary ;)

I wanted my card to be bold! I chose one stamp and the masking technique to create my card. I think when you use black and white, you don't need to be fancy. The stamping will do the work.
I started with my supplies. I chose one image from Sacred Geometry stamp set. I created 6 masks so I would have plenty to work with.

I started with making a line directly in the centre of my A2 card base. This t-square has changed my crafting. I highly recommend having one!

I started stamping in the centre and worked my way out on the line. Then created 2 more lines of stamping using my masks to cover the circle I had stamped previously. There isn't much left to this card. You see how the intricate stamp takes control of the entire design. You really don't need much more to make it a great card.

Once I was done with three lines I thought it enough. I wanted to leave some white space above and below the stamping. I added a simple die cut sentiment and a gem and call it done!

And here is the card, one more time:

A simple card with a simple statement. Kind of like the colour black to me... simple but striking. I love it!

Thanks so much for stopping by today!

Paper Wings Productions October Challenge

Hey there! Today is the monthly challenge over at Paper Wings Productions. I can't believe how fast the months go. This is my last month as a guest designer and I've had a great time! This months challenge is all about Halloween or orange.

Now, as soon as this challenge was given I knew I was in trouble because I don't have any Paper Wings halloween stamps yet! Eek!! Well, that meant I had the great pleasure of figuring out my halloween card by using elements of what I have on hand. So that means, it was a challenge! I love this kind of stuff because it really gets my mind working.

Here is my card:

I gathered up my supplies... Now I know what you are thinking... "isn't that the Eiffel Tower?!" Why yes, it is!  I used the Eiffel Tower and the scroll border stamp from Paris Clear stamp set and this swirl circle from Sacred Geometry stamp set.

I stamped and embossed these images. The circle stamp became the moon, and I used the top of the tower and scroll image to make an iron fence. After stamping I used my craft knife to fussy cut around the scroll images. This opened up the look to be more fence like.

Next I hand cut a ghost from vellum and added a little face to him.

This banner stamp from Paris Stamp set was perfect for his eyes. See the little tassel at the bottom? Yup... that's my little ghostys eye-balls. I hand drew his mouth with a Copic marker.

I then used the Whimsical Alphabet stamp set and embossing powder to create my sentiment. I used dimensionals to pop everything up and give it a little more life.

And that's it! My pieced together card using all BUT halloween stamps! I love when you can look at stamps in a different way and create anything!

Thanks so much for stopping by today. I'm curious... are you a halloween card sender? I make them, but have yet to send any out! I need to know more people who love Halloween and want a card to go with their holiday. If you like halloween, raise your hand!

Until next time... Just keep on stamping

Paper Wings Productions Sept. Blog Hop

Well, Happy Friday to you all! Today is the first Friday of the month which means, it's Paper Wings Productions Blog Hop time!  If you are stopping in from Katie's blog, then you are in the right place!
If you are just stopping in today to say 'Hey!' and would like to start at the beginning, scroll down to the complete list and click away! (and Thanks for your visit!)

This month's blog hop theme is: Purple

It's funny because when I was young, purple was my favourite colour and then I didn't like it for many many, many years. But I have noticed I have been using it a lot lately! So I guess its like I am a kid again.

Don't forget you are hopping along to check out the inspiration AND to win a $25.00 gift certificate to the Paper Wings Productions online store! Woot!

For a chance to win, all you need to do is:
  • be a follower of the Paper Wings Productions blog, The Aviary
  • visit each of the participating designer's blogs and leave a comment
  • go back to the Paper Wings blog to leave us a comment telling us you completed the hop.
To increase your chances of winning you can like our Facebook page and or invite your friends to the hop! Be sure you leave a separate comment for each of your additional entries. The winners will be announce Tuesday Sept. 9th, 2014 on The Aviary.

Ok.. now that the details have been covered, here is my card for the hop:

First I took a purple piece of card stock and ran my purple/blue shades of Gelatos over it. I think there are three or four colours in there.

Then I used the background stamp from Paris Clear stamp set and some white ink to finish my background. I stamped it on the diagonal to add a little more interest since the Gelatos are running on the horizontal line. Kind of gives it some more dimension or something like that. It's one of those things that I don't know why its better, it just seems that way to me, so I did it ;)

Then I took my circle die cuts and took some parts out of my panel:

After that I folded my lighter purple card base and ran it through with an embossing folder, using a diffusion for the last circle so the lines wouldn't show up over my sentiment. The sentiment is from Vintage Technology:

And that's it! Thanks so much for visiting. Be sure to hop on to your next stop! Which should be The Aviary.

Thanks for hopping with us today!

Paper Wings Productions: September Challenge

Hello there! Can you believe it's September? How in tarnation did that even happen?! (and yes, I do say that every month!)
Well regardless, it is a surprise to me, but what it does mean is there is another fun challenge over at The Aviary with Paper Wings Productions! Which you know, really kicks off September with a bang!

This month's challenge is to use fibers... twine/ribbon/string... you know, anything fiber-ish!

My challenge card today features the Sacred Geometry set, which is a pretty versatile set, if I do say so myself...

Meet, me carrrrrd! (why I have developed a pirates accent, is beyond me!)

I chose to use some twine to add detail to my stamped flowers. First I stamped my flowers and then masked them off to stamp my leaves. I colored the images with Copic markers.

I first added some pin holes to the tip of each petal to help with the sewing. This looks complicated, but I assure you it went fast! And, the added bonus of the twine is it hides my Copic mess-ups!

Once that was done I used the "hello" stamp from Vintage Technology and positioned it next to my die cut until I settled on where I liked it. Adhere that little thing with some washi tape. It's cute, and helpful!

I LOVE the look of the die cut white on white.

I then added enamel dots to each flower centre and popped up my panel on a white card base with demensional tape.

Honestly this is one of those cards that when you get done you think, No WAY! That actually turned out ok and not one curse word! Whew! That's just awesomeness in my book ; )
I quite like it...

Ok, so now it's your turn. Look through your Paper Wings Productions stamps and see what you can add twine to. I think you might agree that it adds some real oomph to your stamped images!

Thanks for stopping in today...
