365 Cards: Matchbook Card # 2

If you read my tutorial for my first post of today, you will know how to make these little guys. I had originally made this card for the tutorial but actually didn't like it too much. But I wanted to show how you can give them different looks so I thought I would share this one too.

Here is the inside. You can see I did the same design on the flap and for the insert (minus the rounded corners) as for the first card.
Here is the card with the flap out, but not open.

365 Cards Matchbook Card Challenge

Hey there all. Happy Wednesday!! Today it's my turn to show you a tutorial using the Score-It Mini for 365 Cards. My card is a matchbook card which are SO fun and easy to make. Plus they are a great way to make a hand delivered card since they close up like a matchbook negating any envelope! So lets get started. Here is the outside of my matchbook card:

Here you can see how it opens. The bottom flap allows you to tuck in the top, making it look like a matchbook:

Here is the inside. Note I used two adhesive gems. These are all for looks, but you can also punch holes there and thread with ribbon, or use buttons, brads or even eyelets. All will give you a nice look and help you keep your flap adhered. 

So lets get started shall we?

Step 1: Trim your cardstock legthwise at 4 1/4 x 11. Stamp if desired (I stamped a background on mine.)

Step 2: Score your card stock at 4 5/8 (just a bit over 4 1/2) and 10 inches
Step 3: Cut insert if desired at 4 1/4 x 3  1/2. Decorate and Adhere.

Step 4: Apply red line tape to adhere bottom flap.

Step 5: Design front as desired. I also added a few score lines to the front for some interest. You can click on the picture for it to enlarge. 

A few thoughts I have on the Score-It Mini: As I have read the other reviews by the DT members, I have noticed we all have the same likes with this product.

1. I love that its small and portable. Its easy to tuck away and doesn't take up all my desk space like my Score Pal.

2. I love that the stylus is attached. My kids love to steal my stuff and I misplace things in my mess and this way I know where it is always is. Its hard to stuff an entire Score-It Mini up your shirt! (just ask my 4 yr. old!)

3. I love the grip on this thing. No paper sliding around to cause problems.

4. I love the deep score lines it makes. I think they are even more profound than the ones from the Score Pal.

5. I love having this tool because my favorite paper is 110 lb. and it is IMPOSSIBLE to fold unless it is scored. This gives it a nice clean score, leaving no breaks or cracks in the paper.

365 Cards Score-It Week: Tri-Fold Card

Hey all! I got this in just under the wire! The days events forbade me from getting this done any sooner than now. Thanks for checking in! Today's challenge at 365 Cards is a tri-fold card. I was excited to make one, but didn't want to do the same 'ol ones I have done before. Thank the heavens for Google! I found this fun tutorial on a tri-fold card by Beate Johns on Split Coast Stampers.

Take-Off Tuesday # 22

Happy Tuesday everybody! How are you enjoying your week so far? Hope you are all well. Todays Take-Off is from Serena & Lily again. I loved this neutral room. I have been into bright things lately so much that I forget you can use only neutrals and come up with a lovely creation.

Here is my take:
I used cream, kraft, white and grey. Unfortunately these colors are not easy to photograph. (who knew!?) So through lightening the photo the embossing looks a little freaky. I used silver to emboss the three images, and they are indeed matted with grey.

In honor of Score-It week over at 365 Cards, I used my Score-It Mini to add lines throughout the card. Hopefully you can see if you click to enlarge. I did double lines vertically and one horizontal line under the three flowers. You will hear me gush about the Score-It Mini ALLL week! This thing is so great to have. I love that I could score in lines to bring out one of the ideas I like from my Take-Off photo. I love that it is small so it fits in the drawer and I don't have to have it on my desk 24/7. Its just great!

365 Cards Score-It Week: Money Holder #2

Hey there. Yes, I realize this is the second money holder post, but you know there's been a lot of people needing money I guess and its always good to send it in a great holder! 

I had a friend turning 30 this last week. She is a huge Etsy fan and I didn't know A. what to get her or B. her fav. store so I decided to give her $ instead which means... money holder to the rescue. So here is my second Score-It Mini card for the day!

Since my friend lives in the big city, I deemed the Doodle Factory Urban set worthy to adorn her card. Here is my main man doin' a little tagging to let her know its her special day. I used markers to color my sentiment so I could get a "spray paint-y" sort of feel. And added some stickles to the spray plume.
Inside you can see its basically a tri-fold card but with the edges glued down. Its a really easey card to make and would also be suitable to hold a gift card.

I continued the colored idea with faux stitching on the sides and added a simple happy birthday. Those are actually little flowers to the side of the sentiment, but from here it looks like spray paint blotches... much more fitting! I cut that notch out by first drawing what I wanted it to look like and then slicing it with an exacto. And there is the dough just waiting to be spent, tucked in its pocket.

365 Cards Score-It Challenge: Money Holder

Good Day to you! Today's challenge at 365 Cards is a money holder. Since I was in Easter mode this weekend, I decided to do money holder's for the kids for Easter. And honestly I'm not really into giving money to my kids, especially for a religious holiday, but I was putting together baskets and Ronin asked if he would get a basket AND a card, and I wanted to do the challenge so I just went with it.

Anyway, I was browsing around on-line and found this great money holder from Nicole's Blog for Papertrey Ink. She has a post on how to make this wonderful Bank Book and Box. You can view her template and tutorial  HERE. It was SO great because you just print the template out onto your cardstock, score, cut and design. 

Here is the first one I did. You tie the dollars into the book with some twine/floss. I only added a few since they are little and don't really need a lot (if any)! I decided to put the kids names on the outside of the boxes so they could identify them. I added the Easter sentiment to the actual bank book. I used a belly stamp from the Wise Old Owl Bellies set to make the background for R's book and the egg in his name.
Here is second one. I used the same bellies to make him three eggs for the front of his card. I added some stickles to his money holder and some stitching. The 'happy' is from the Birthday Basics Set and the 'Easter' is from the Lotus Midwest Modern Alphabet set by Amy Butler.

365 Cards Score-It Challenge: Gift Card Holder

Hey all! Happy Easter Sunday! I hope you are enjoying the day. Today is the first challenge of our Score-It Week over at 365 Cards. Wahoo!! I hope you are as excited as we are to get started. Today Pam has kicked things off with the first challenge: a Gift Card Holder. Check out 365 Cards and her personal blog for a nice tutorial on her project. I decided I wanted to participate with each challenge this week so I made up my own Gift Card Holder:

You can see that its a pocket with an insert. (I used this tutorial HERE). It is such an easy way to make a fun card, and you will love making your own!
I decided I wanted to make my insert into a tag. I added the same scallop trim from the front flap, but only glued down the very bottoms of the scallops. This way the trim can hold in my gift card! And you know what is so funny, I found this GC in my purse (cause I knew I needed one for the photo) and this baby still has money on it!! Can you believe it? It is SO old, I need to get using it! Needless to say, I got very excited to go shopping!
I used DP from Sassafras Lass Hog Heaven line. That little 'for you' tag has some faux stitching on it from the Gel-A-Tins Sewing Kit stamps set, then I drew in little stitches on top of it.
